A description of the various techniques used at Aster.
The foundation to any massage, Swedish is a whole body therapeutic modality using techniques such as stroking, rubbing, tapping, pounding gliding and kneading. The benefits include;
Deep tissue massage is mainly used to treat musculoskeletal issues, such as strains and sports injuries. It involves applying sustained pressure using slow, deep strokes to target the inner layers of your muscles and connective tissues. This helps to break up scar tissue that forms following an injury and reduce tension in muscle and tissue.
It may also promote faster healing by increasing blood flow and reducing inflammation.
Myofascial release is a soft tissue massage treatment to help increase myofascial mobility and reduce pain within the musculoskeletal system. Myofascial is connective tissue that is situated under the skin and surrounds muscle, bone, ligaments and tendons. Soft tissues in the body can become restricted due to injury, overuse, inactivity and result in pain, tension and reduced blood flow. Myofascial release is a slow, effective technique to relief symptoms of fascia restrictions.
A well-timed pregnancy massage can make the nine-month journey to motherhood a little more comfortable – helping you feel supported and nurtured, while at the same time soothing the aches and pains associated with growing a tiny life.
A hot stone massage involves massaging the warm stones on key acupressure points on your body. The stones warm and relax your muscles, allowing deeper pressure to be applied during your massage.
Warm bamboo massage uses solid bamboo sticks of different lengths and diameters to massage the body. The sticks are gently warmed and applied to give deep and long massage strokes to break down tension and stretch tight and sluggish muscles.
Dry cupping is a manual therapy that involves positioning a cup on the skin and creating a vacuum to apply negative pressure. This negative pressure increases blood flow to the area, aiding in the flushing of toxins and releasing fascia.
